Flavor & Fiber: Together at Last

Fiber fans, hold on to your socks.

GNU Foods’ “Flavor & Fiber Together at Last” bars provide almost 50% daily value for fiber in one delicious snack bar.

I recently sampled the Carrot Cake Bars, which taste almost exactly like Clif Bar’s delicious Carrot Cake offering, just without Clif’s trademark Sugar as the First Ingredient move.

What I like about these bars is they pack 12 grams of fiber into 140 calories not with inulin alone (as many competitive products do), but with their leading ingredient “Gnu High Fiber Blend”.

This fiber blend consists of naturally occurring, whole food fiber finds like rolled oats, organic whole wheat flour, wheat bran, organic kamut, psyllium, flax, and millet.

Inulin is the second ingredient after the high fiber blend, followed by fruit juices, plums, and walnuts (among other supporting ingredients).

And keeping you full beyond the fiber are 5 grams of fat (none of which are saturated) and 3 grams protein.

This dietitian says: pair this bar with a piece of fresh fruit, for a great snack on the go!

    As a prediabetic can I eat these?

      These bars are certainly appropriate for someone with prediabetes. The fiber helps to temper blood sugar spikes – I would recommend pairing the bar with a piece of fruit for a great 45g carbohydrate snack
